Architectural Review

Our Architectural Review process helps maintain the community’s look and feel by ensuring that exterior changes to homes follow established design guidelines. This helps protect property values, preserve neighborhood character, and ensure all improvements meet community standards. Before starting any exterior project, homeowners should submit an application for approval.

Architectural Review Board

The Architectural Review Board, also known as the ARB, is composed of volunteer homeowners appointed by the Board of Directors.  The ARB reviews applications for all exterior changes to homes within Oak Hills.  While the ARB is responsible for approving exterior changes or improvements to all homes in Oak Hills, the Board of Directors is the final authority on the CC&Rs.  Should the ARB deny approval of a request for change or improvement to a home, the applicant may appeal that decision to the Board of Directors.

Plat Map & Property Lines

The ARB recommends providing site maps with any project requiring proper identification of property lines. These site maps should properly reference the Plat Maps and property lines, as designated by Washington County. Such projects requiring a site map may include fences, cement work (driveways, etc.), exterior remodels/additions, etc. Homeowners must make reasonable effort to show that any project requiring ARB approval will be built on homeowner property or the property line.

The Oak Hills Plat Map is available for your reference:

All applications are reviewed in accordance with the community’s established architectural guidelines. Please allow anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for processing, depending on the complexity of the project, board feedback, alternative proposals, or potential appeals. Most applications that follow the guidelines can be processed quickly, while more involved projects may take additional time. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to uphold the standards of our community.

Please Note: Approval by the Oak Hills Architectural Review Board does NOT relieve any homeowner from compliance with local building codes and regulations. Approvals subject to ten (10) day appeal period. Construction by the applicant during this appeal period is at the applicant's own risk.
